Dr. Joshua Lampert is a Manhattan trained plastic and aesthetic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS)—the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies the full spectrum of the specialty of plastic surgery regarding the entire body including the head, neck, trunk, and extremities.

Certification by the ABPS is rigorous. Applicants must have a minimum of 6-8 years of surgical training following medical school, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to plastic surgery residency. Certification requires that surgeons pass stringent written and oral exams and adhere to strict continuing education requirements. Additionally, board-certified plastic surgeons must restrict their surgeries to an accredited state-licensed or Medicare-certified surgical facility. Choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon represents years of specialized training in all aspects of patient care. Surgeons who are certified are among the best plastic surgeons in the country. Training Experience

Dr. Lampert got an “early start” with dedicated plastic surgery training at a young age, starting in his late 20’s. Traditionally, surgeons would apply for plastic surgery training after completing education in general surgery, ENT, orthopedics, or other surgical residencies.

Some of these surgeons would be double or even triple boarded in other specialties before they could even begin plastic surgery training. Dr. Lampert matched directly into a plastic surgery residency program immediately after medical school graduation. At that time, only 33 programs with less than 79 spots were available.

This made the process highly competitive but saved Dr. Lampert extra years of training outside the discipline of plastic surgery. This allowed him to focus more intensely on the art and science of plastic and aesthetic surgery at an earlier age. With his early start, he would inevitably become one of the best facelift surgeons Miami has available.

Further Specialized Studies

Dr. Lampert underwent a 6-year Plastic Surgery residency in Manhattan at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Founded in 1852, The Mount Sinai Hospital is an internationally acclaimed leader in clinical and basic science research and also home to the Icahn School of medicine, one of the foremost medical schools in the United States. During his final year in New York, Dr. Lampert served as the solo Chief Resident in Plastic Surgery at this historic hospital, which contains over 1170 beds.

Prior to moving to Miami, he avidly ran his own cosmetic surgery clinic at this prestigious institution. Here he trained under some of Park Avenue’s finest aesthetic surgeons, performing both surgical and non-surgical treatments to rejuvenate the face, breasts, and body. After moving from Manhattan to Miami, Dr. Lampert received further specialty training in aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery.

Dr. Lampert completed an ACGME-accredited Fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery. He was one of only 6 in the country to be certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. During this time, Dr. Lampert studied under the past president of the Rhinoplasty Society, allowing him to eventually become one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons Miami has to offer.

Dr. Lampert has presented and published techniques and video tutorials on rhinoplasty, nasal reconstruction, cosmetics, chest wall reconstruction, and pediatric plastic surgery. He has had numerous scientific publications in plastic surgery peer-reviewed literature and has given award-winning presentations on patient safety and body contouring after massive weight loss.

Dr. Lampert presently takes great pride in serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery with the Division of Plastic Surgery at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He is also an editorial reviewer for the prestigious journal, Annals of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Lampert has found great individual reward participating in multiple medical missions to surgically treat the underserved pediatric patient populations of Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic. He is a proud member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
