From Dr. Lampert:
Lower Body Lift: this patient is 3 months post op from a lower body lift with combined suction assisted lipectomy. She had lost over 60 lbs through extraordinary self discipline, diet and exercise. Loose skin excess resulted. The advantage of the lower body lift procedure in massive weight loss patients is the circumferential treatment of skin laxity. Lower body lifts are circumferential procedures, that address skin laxity of the abdomen, outer thigh, flanks and buttocks. An abdominoplasty, on the other hand, really focuses on the anterior (or front side) of the abdomen. An abdominoplasty does not address the outer thigh, buttock and flank skin laxity as well. For massive weight loss with resultant skin laxity, the lower body lift (originally described by the late great Ted Lockwood) still remains the gold standard for treatment.
