1 Week Post Op: Completion of Breast Reconstruction After Mastectomy
She had reconstruction initially started using tissue expanders which were then exchanged for prosthesis. Although it took two stages, I do not think a better aesthetic result could have been achieved without a tissue expander. I believe this technique using the tissue expander helps ensure better blood supply to the nipple and a better chance at saving the nipple after mastectomy. It also helps shape the breast and allows the surgeon a better chance with the second surgery to achieve the best possible shape… Before mastectomy she had prior breast implants and bottoming out on the right side and visible implant edge deformity on the left.
