From Dr. Lampert:
Septoplasty with Nasal Fracture Reduction
Here the nasal splint was just removed 1 week status post nasal fracture reduction to treat a deviated broken nose. He is still very swollen, but you can already see a marked improvement. This 22 year old male had a badly broken nose and difficulty breathing after nasal trauma. His severe nasal fracture caused his nasal vault and septum to be displaced and deviated. I reduced his nasal fracture and performed a septoplasty to straighten out his nose. I performed his surgery about a week after the initial injury before improper boney union (or malunion) occurred. I feel that early intervention can often help prevent the requirement of a larger more involved procedure.
