I operated on this young man who walked into the exam room like this. He had a motorcycle accident and had a huge hernia and an abdominal wall deformity that included intestines covered only with skin grafts. I performed reconstructive surgery using an endoscope assisted separation of components technique with help from the general surgery team. This technique relies on mobilization of bilateral rectus abdominis muscle flaps in order to cover the facial defect. I later also revised his tracheostomy scar (see in the scar revision gallery).
